What a wonderful sunday ...

Auf der Maur - Auf der Maur
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
Rock Goddess - Rock Goddess

samples from Necrophagist

lunch: Burger & Fries

weather: sunny and warm

not much to add from my side, doesnt this sound already like a perfect sunday @work :). Its nice when you can turn on the music a bit louder without "pestering" your colleagues in the other rooms or probably even scare them with the deep growls from Nile or Necrophagist. The last band was recommended by a friend and the first few samples sound interesting, bit progressive approach imo.
They made a cool ending to "only ash remains" taken from the theme that is played in the scene "Dance of Knights" in Prokofiev's ballet Romeo & Juliet. Well Hollenthon made a whole song out of that theme, Lords of Bedlam :)
Rock Goddess fit perfectly to the warm and sunny day and to the last hour of my shift at work.

Forhekset!

Having time to listen to music is like a magic forest - Zauberwald. And the future and the truth unfolds before you, and all you have to do is experience it.

I have thought about putting music (and emotions) into written words and tend to say that I will - if I will - write reviews on rateyourmusic in German instead of English, because it's easier for me and will maybe motivate me to write more. Maybe. I still think that rating music is a difficult task, without a doubt.

So, anyway - the journey.. on the train I've listened to Ebru Gündeş - Kaçak and Satyricon - Nemesis Divina.

I've also tried to listen to Reroute to Remain (In Flames), but I didn't like it... So I went back to Dream Dance Vol. 48 (feat. Topmodelz - entre dos tierras <3) and Kontor - House of House Vol. 1 (feat. Euphonix - my girl wants 2 party)

Today I had another small revelation listening to Theatre of Tragedy's Velvet Darkness They Fear. I remember I bought the album quite cheap a couple of years ago, listened to it once while I was working on the PC and never touched it again. But today - outside - in the sun - of course, everything was different, and I loved listening to this classic Gothic Metal album. Seen as single components one could criticize the keyboard sound, maybe the growls, maybe the demureness that is so apparent. But as a whole, this album totally worked for me. Maybe it will not work again in a rainy city in front of a PC. But then again, you can always close your eyes and let the artists take you back to where you loved and lived the songs.

I gave Nemesis Divina another spin before starting to "really listen" to Britney Spears' latest album Blackout. The first couple of songs, as expected - really good beats, but all killed by a soulless and seemingly indifferent Britney. There's a lot to be said about this, and we'll see...

Dismal Euphony - flyineye (Python Zero)
Marlene Dietrich - mein mann ist verhindert (Ich bin die fesche Lola)
Savatage - fighting for your love
Giuseppe Verdi - schiudete, ire al carcere (Rigoletto)
The Shirelles - will you love me tomorrow (More Dirty Dancing)
Emperor - inno a satana [live] (Emperial Live Ceremony)
My Dying Bride - the deepest of all hearts (Anti Diluvian Chronicles)
Indira Radić - tika-tak (Zmaj)
Mayhem - anti (Ordo Ad Chao)
Johnny Cash - i walk the line [live] (At San Quentin)
Belphegor - march of the dead (The Last Supper)
In Flames - the chosen pessimist (A Sense Of Purpose)
Tosca - ocean beat (Suzuki)

Only 13 tracks this time cause I had to delete the Taake demo "Manndaudsvinter". Due to the abysmal quality of this recording the track sounded like a next door neighbor mixing a strawberry margarita.
